My car has been maliously damaged. An individual has subsequently been charged with criminal damage.I?

I have obtained quotes for the repair of the damage which amounts to �800.00. Could you possibly advise me where I go from here as regards my options for getting the car repaired. Do I get the damage repaired now and hope to re-coup the monies when the person has been convicted. Wait to see if the person is convicted. Or would I proceed through my insurance company even though I have a �200.00 excess? Many thanks.
