How does a Domino Mask stay on your face?

So I noticed heroes like Robin, and Green Lantern wear a Domino Mask. This is the mask that only covers your eyes and sometimes your nose. But how does this mask stay on your face? If you watch Batman and Robin, or Batman Forever, you notice that Robin does not have a string surrounding his head. How do these masks stay on your face?
